On-Campus Housing

Living in on-campus student accommodation Dublin can be an amazing experience for you. You live in the proximity of your university and can visit the lecture halls within less than five minutes. Private Student Housing Complexes

Dublin also boasts some private student housing complexes which are considered as the alternatives to on-campus student accommodations. These private complexes are usually known as PBSA which stands for (Purpose-Built Student Accommodation). These accommodations are very much similar to on-campus housing and they provide campus-like environment. In complexes, you may find gyms with advanced equipment, games rooms with pool table and more, sports courts (volleyball courts, basketball courts, tennis courts, etc.), and more. Besides, in accommodation units, you may find kitchen appliances, refrigerators, televisions, Wi-Fi, study rooms, study desks and chairs, and more. You should check before renting, since different complexes may have distinct features. Besides, security staff, CCTV cameras, and secure door entry are the security features in private student housing complexes.

There are different types of variants available in accommodations units, about which you can read in the following descriptions.

Ensuite Room: An ensuite room is a unit that is occupied by one person. In an ensuite room a dedicated attached bathroom is provided. But, kitchens and lounges are shared and are found in bigger units.

Non-Ensuite Room: A non-ensuite room is also occupied by one person, but there is no dedicated attached bathroom inside. Residents of non-ensuite rooms need to use the shared bathrooms in the bigger units. Kitchen and rooms are also shared like they are for ensuite rooms.

Shared Room: A shared room is occupied by multiple residents, number of whom may be two or more. Everything including kitchens, lounges, and bathrooms are shared for shared rooms.

Studio: A studio is a self-contained unit where there is a large space with a living area, bed, study area, and kitchen area. Every studio comes equipped with an ensuite bathroom. Some studios are available for one occupant whereas in some others, some others are available for two residents. In many of them, both the options are available, which means you can either stay alone in a studio or can live with a studio-mate. In such a studio, you can also start living alone and can adjust another resident after some days.

Apartment: An apartment is a unit, which usually accommodates multiple occupants. One bedroom is usually allocated to either one or two occupants. The apartment may have an ensuite bathroom in each bedroom or there may be one or more attached bathrooms. Kitchens and lounges are shared in most of the apartments; however, exceptionally, some of them may have open kitchen areas.

Private Rental Apartments

There are the private rental apartments, which are free from all complexes, and also provide freedom to students. These apartments may either be rented entirely or one can rent a part or a room of a private rental apartment. Such apartments are free from any restrictions and you are required to make most of the arrangements on your own. However, some apartments may have some amenities like Wi-Fi, kitchen appliances, etc.

Homestays

Homestays are the places in the houses of locals in Dublin. Some locals offer rooms to students in their houses. Such types of arrangements help students perfectly in cultural immersions. Students need to follow some rules imposed by households.
